WHAT ARE SOME WAYS ENCUENTRO LATINO CAN HELP YOUR ORGANIZATION?    

 

Encuentro Latino also has many different ways in which we provide assistance to domestic violence organizations.  We can . . .

• Evaluate your current services to Latinos and increase your agency’s readiness to serve Latino clients.
• Assist in developing Limited English Proficiency (LEP) plans in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
• Advise on methods of developing community outreach programs to Latinos in your area.
• Provide information on working with immigrant clients, including the immigration relief provisions from the Violence Against Women Act.
• Develop custom teleconferences for your agency on topics such as acculturation, religion, Latino traditions, and more.

 

 

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT 

 

Encuentro Latino is promoting to two types of leadership development.  One is focused on leadership within the movement, and the other focuses on leadership by survivors in their local communities.

Leadership Within the Movement
Encuentro Latino is promoting leadership within the domestic violence movement through recruiting Latinas who are active within the movement to serve on our Advisory Board.  In the future we hope to build on this through creating mentorship relationships between established Latinas and those who are “up-and-coming.”

Leadership Among Latina Survivors
Latina survivors can be the best advocates within their own communities.  Latina survivors who are connected to the community members are in an a unique position to serve as leaders in taking an active role against domestic violence.  Encuentro Latino is in the process of developing a leadership training curriculum for Latina survivors of domestic violence.

 

 

JOIN ENLACE LATINO 

Encuentro Latino is creating a network of inter-linked Latino-serving domestic violence agencies called the Enlace Latino.  The purpose of the Enlace Latino is to increase links or connections between agencies that serve Latino clients.  More information on the Enlace Latino website.
